It really is just always everything all the time I guess 🐝

sunrise

it really does come in waves. it seems like just a poetic metaphor, but i feel the crash and recede almost literally

the tide is rising again

its less like water and more like resin, being swirled across a surface. whorls and bubbles and ripples mar the process but every motion leaves behind another layer, thickening and strengthening and hardening

i think there's an apt metaphor in that. if not for the imperfections, it might be totally transparent. you'd never know that protective layer was there. scoured away and reformed over and over though, it becomes a tangible thing, something with depth and texture as flaws are introduced

i dont think it needs any morality ascribed to it, and perhaps i am romanticising it overmuch. perhaps it would be better for your layers of emotional security to never be tested, to remain unmarred forever. but there's a solace and a connection to seeing your flaws mirrored in someone else. sometimes manifested differently and never exactly alike, but unmistakably formed by the same process

things can be beautiful and also perfect at the same time, but i've never believed the former was connected to the latter

waves and flowers and fish fingers and lentils and tea and crunchy m&ms and tacos on a bench and playground barkchips and $3 pastries and video games and that specific feeling of relief and not quite crying and telling stories and arguments finally resolved and a hundred other things that nobody will remember except you and me and the people who love us.

sunrise over the ocean.
